Back in the 1980's in the UK, there were absolutely no jobs to be found in the north of England. The Conservative Government had decimated the cities and towns. Crime was rife. There was nothing to do. Everywhere closed down. Many places became 'ghost towns and cities. Riots broke out through sheer frustration, racism, and economic inactivity - and also police brutality. Life in the UK back then, was as hard as hell growing up in the 1980's.

The movie when you heard this was Sliver

Frankie Goes to Hollywood. The song basically shows a ring where the United Nations (Crowd that surrounds them) bet on who's going to win the fight. Chernenko or Reagan. The fight starts with intimidation leading to pokes, jabs and punches and finally dirty tricks. It expresses the increasing tensions between the USSR and the US during the cold war. But when the Nations start fighting amongst themselves both leaders suddenly stop to see what their juvenile antics lead up to. Chaos ensues, no punches are pulled, and the domino effect takes place where one violent end meets another until finally -- the unthinkable happens. This video was banned in nearly thirty countries around the world when it first aired. Yet for the youths in the eighties, it was an iconic cornerstone for voices to speak out and end the cold war once and for all. And it all happened when the Berlin Wall was torn down freeing both sides of Germany. This lead to new talks between Russia and the US to open borders, meet new people, as well as allowing western culture to seep into the russian citizens.The eighties era were and will always remain as the decade to change cultural thinking.

The song was about Magic Johnson and the 1980's L.A. Lakers who who the band are fans of. The song mentions Byron Scott, A.C. Green, James Worthty, and Kareem Abdul Jabar
